Upper Endoscopy (EGD)

An EGD is a visual exam of the upper intestinal tract from the mouth down through the esophagus into the stomach and first part of the small bowel.

Visual examination with the endoscope and results from biopsies can help diagnose patients with conditions such as ulcers, indigestion, intestinal bleeding, esophagitis, celiac disease, gastritis, Barrett’s disease and other conditions of the upper intestinal tract which, in turn, can help your provider determine the proper treatment and management for your symptoms and diagnosis.
